Honda has patented the design of its CG 160 motorcycle in India, hinting at a potential launch in the 160cc premium commuter segment.

Honda CG 160 is a best-seller in Brazil with a 48-year legacy and currently in its 9th generation since 2015.

Brazil offers four CG 160 variants – Start, Fan, Titan, and Cargo, priced between BRL 16,440 (₹2.49 lakh) and BRL 17,430 (₹2.64 lakh)

Powered by a 162.7cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine, the CG 160 delivers 14.4 bhp and 13.8 Nm torque, mated to a 5-speed gearbox

The patented Indian version mirrors Brazil’s design, featuring a muscular fuel tank with shrouds and optional dual-tone colourways

It rides on 18-inch alloy wheels with 80-section front and 100-section rear tyres, equipped with disc brakes on both ends

Suspension setup includes RSU telescopic front forks and twin shock absorbers mounted on a Diamond frame

Dimensions include a 1,311 mm wheelbase, 190 mm ground clearance, 796 mm seat height, and a 14L fuel tank capacity

Feature highlights: LED headlight and taillight, halogen turn indicators, single-piece seat, and split grab rails for sporty appeal.

Honda has not confirmed an India launch, but this move follows similar patents for global models as part of IP protection efforts.
